Princess Diana is known for having a naughty streak when she was still alive.

While speaking with The Sun, Princess Diana’s former royal protection officer, Ken Wharfe revealed that the late royal used to carry around an inconspicuous gadget, which they fondly called her marital aid.

“Le Gadget was perhaps our finest wind-up and an almost constant source of laughter. The small vibrator, bought as a practical joke after a staff night out in Paris during Diana's official visit there the previous November, had become her lucky mascot,” Wharfe said.

Wharfe also recounted a time wherein Princess Diana forgot to pack her vibrator inside her luggage. The former royal protection officer had to ship the device to where Princess Diana was because she, reportedly, needed it.

The former royal protection officer revealed that Princess Diana became so used to having her vibrator with her that’s why she feels uneasy when she doesn’t have it.

But after the package arrived at Princess Diana’s location, an officer opened the package and found the vibrator inside. Everyone was shocked but the Princess of Wales remained calm and she even managed to make everyone laugh with her comment.

“There was a stunned pause (and a few bemused glances from Embassy dignitaries) until the silence was broken by Diana, who said, 'Oh, that must be for me,' and began to laugh,” Wharfe said.

Meanwhile, Princess Diana's portrayer, Emma Corrin revealed that she also carries a marital aid in her bag everywhere she goes. While speaking with Vogue, Corrin said that she usually uses her vibrator in times of stress.

“It’s great if you’re stressed and need to unwind. Also, it kind of looks like a lipstick or a mascara so, you know, nice and subtle to bring about with you,” she said.

In related news, Princess Diana also made headlines this week after it was revealed that she was shamed for misbehaving in public. In the documentary Fergie vs Diana: Royal Wives at War, narrator Glynis Barber said that the late royal tried her best to be as fun as Sarah Ferguson. However, one of her attempts at the Royal Ascot in 1987 backfired.

Royal author Ingrid Seward also talked about the time when Princess Diana and Fergie engaged in questionable behavior.

“There was one occasion at Royal Ascot where they spotted a friend of Fergie's in the crowd. They were all carrying umbrellas and they poked her bottom with this umbrella,” she said.

Royal editor Richard Kay added that it was all very funny but the repercussions were huge.

“But both Sarah Ferguson and Princess Diana were upbraided for sort of misbehaving in public,” he said.
