Northern Irish singer-songwriter, instrumentalist, and record producer, Van Morrison is set to roll out an unprecedented set of anti lockdown songs. Many around the globe may only get a little of what these songs could be based on. For the knowledge of who is interested in lending their ears, the songs will be in protest to the coronavirus lockdowns imposed by the government of the United Kingdom.

Despite not-so-cheerful motives behind the production of new songs, Van Morrison is set to flick the magic around with his voice as he has done in the past. The collection of songs will be released in a phased manner – one by one, month after month.

The first in the list “Born to Be Free,” will be out on September 25, followed by October 19's “As I Walked Out,” and “No More Lockdown” on October 23.

The music vet is determined to be blunt with the thoughts he presents through his songs. The straightforward lyrics of the song may not be received very well by the minds behind the UK’s lockdowns.

It’s not yet sure what Morrison is mad about. However, there are certain facts about the UK’s system of lockdown that might have angered the musician.

The UK is Europe’s worst-hit nation by a coronavirus. They followed the pandemic protocols issued by the World Health Organization (WHO), but something just didn’t seem to work.

In contrast to strict lockdown in the early months of the pandemic, the UK government was one of the first in the world to soften them. Easing up the lockdowns initially produced good results, but later cases began climbing up again.

During early September, Morrison did some gigs following social distancing measures at the country capital London and Newcastle Upon Tyne.  After the even, Morrison issued an official statement on his website that suggested that playing the gig wasn’t indicative that he was in favor of the current state of affairs or that he was going to accept it.

Instead, it was just an effort to get his band up and floating. Besides that, he also urged fellow musicians, singers, writers, and contributors to stand with him in his fight against meaningless lockdowns.

A part of his blunt lyrics from his Born To Be Free goes: “The new normal, is not normal/It’s no kind of normal at all/Everyone seems to have amnesia/Don’t need the government cramping my style/Give them an inch, they take a mile.”
