Prince Philip is known for his unique sense of humor and this was reportedly on full display during his first meeting with Barack Obama.

In 2009, the former president and his wife, Michelle Obama visited Buckingham Palace to meet the Duke of Edinburgh and Queen Elizabeth. The Obamas was ushered into a private room where they managed to sit down and talk away from the prying eyes of the media.

While the former first couple was talking to Her Majesty, the dad of four accused Barack of just trying to stay awake since he and his wife have a very busy schedule.

“Then as President Obama listed his meetings with Gordon Brown, the Russian President, and David Cameron, Prince Philip cut in again, asking: 'Can you tell the difference between them?’”

Despite Prince Philip’s rude remarks, the Obamas first meeting with the royal couple was regarded as a huge success.

As of late, Barack and Prince Philip have not shared details from their first meeting. But the ex-FLOTUS previously revealed what it was like meeting the Queen.

In the book “The Other Side of the Coin: The Queen, The Dresser, and the Wardrobe,” author Angela Kelly shared a story about the ex-FLOTUS.

During their first meeting, Michelle was reportedly feeling a tad bit excited that she found herself hugging the Queen even though she knows that this was a breach of royal protocol.

Following the incident, rumors swirled that the Queen was upset with what Michelle did but the mom of two said that this wasn’t the case.

“Much has been made about the meeting between Michelle and Her Majesty when an instant and mutual warmth was shared between these two remarkable women, and the protocol was abandoned as they stood closely with their arms around each other's backs. In reality, it was a natural instinct for the Queen to show affection and respect for another great woman and really there is no protocol that must be adhered to,” Kelly said.

CNN also released a video of Michelle hugging the Queen and it shows the latter wrapping her arms around Barack’s wife. In her memoir “Becoming,” the former first lady said that she simply did what she felt was instinctive of her anytime she feels connected to a person.

Shortly after laying her arms around the Queen, Michelle realized that she might have just committed an epic faux pas. She was also accused of being disrespectful but she didn’t allow the criticisms to affect her that much.
