Katy Perry, 35, dropped the bomb of her newest album, titled "Smile" and, at the same time, releasing a new track of the same title after weeks of hints.

On July 10, mommy-to-be Katy revealed the details of her #KP5 on her social media accounts, sharing that she wrote the track during the darkest moments of her life. However, Perry positively turned her dark experience into something great: "Smile."

“Not myself / not my best / Felt like I failed the test,” part of verse one sings. ‘Smile’ has a kittenish and playful beats that perfectly goes along with the song’s modern clown-themed artwork. The song then continues bringing the message that every tear always comes with a lesson and rejection can be God’s protection.

As HollywoodLife reported, Katy’s new song speaks of her being “resilient” as ever, considering writing a happy track despite her personal struggles. Katy Perry’s newest album is her journey towards the light, with stories of hope and love all throughout.

Katy Perry unveiled her newest album details in a very unique way as possible. In order for the KatyCats to find out of the album’s name, fans had to tweet to make the virtual balloon explode. Katy’s new album is a circus-themed one that best resembles an actual carnival game. After numerous tries, KatyCats emerged victorious over Katy’s gimmick and eventually “won” the game.

‘Smile’ is the only track revealed to be in the new #KP5 track list which will be made available on August 14. However, fans are not starting to assume that Katy’s previously released singles, “Daisies”, “Never Worn White”, “Never Really Over”, and “Harleys In Hawaii” will be on it.

As EW, ‘Smile’ will be Katy’s first album since ‘Witness’ in 2017. The said album made Katy take home a double Platinum single for “Chained To The Rhythm,” a certified-Gold single for “Bon Appetit”, and a Platinum-deal for “Swish Swish.” However, despite of the album’s chart topping success, ‘Witness’ is Katy’s lowest-selling album of her entire music career. According to HollywoodLife, the “mild reception” of ‘Witness’ has something to do with the singer’s breakup to her now husband-to-be actor Orlando Bloom, something she has previously shared in an interview with Q on CBC. "The validation didn’t get me high, and so I just crashed,” Katy said.

On a much brighter side, Katy is now expecting her first child with fiancé, actor Orlando Bloom: where the singer announced her pregnancy through her “Never Worn White” music video in March.
