Prince Charles and Prince William allegedly started an alliance against Prince Harry and Meghan Markle before their bombshell exit.

In the book, Prince Andrew, Epstein, and the Palace, royal author Nigel Cawthorne claimed that Prince Charles and Prince William used the Duke of York’s controversial interview to orchestrate a silent coup against the Sussexes.

Last year, Prince Andrew spoke with BBC Newsnight about his friendship with the late Jeffrey Epstein. Following the interview, the dad of two was criticized by the public.

The royal author also claimed that Prince Charles and Prince William’s teams at the palace started leaking stories about Prince Harry and Markle quitting The Firm. And after the rumors started circulating, Queen Elizabeth ordered to meet with the Sussexes for a crisis talk.

However, Daily Mail is debunking some of Cawthorne’s claims after the latter said Prince Andrew’s interview was seen as a starting shot in pruning the unwieldy monarchy.

Prince Charles has reportedly been wanting to streamline the senior working royals. And since he doesn’t get along well with Prince Andrew, the latter’s interview was allegedly seen as a timely excuse to deal with the Duke and Duchess of Sussex.

“The Charles-William faction at the palace is in the seemingly unstoppable ascendant. The starting shot was Andrew’s BBC Newsnight interview. The Charles faction at the palace clearly saw that it created the opportunity of removing not only Andrew but also Harry from royal engagements. The first rumors of Harry ‘quitting’ the royal family started circulating around the day of the interview, even before the backlash to Prince Andrew’s performance,” Cawthorne said.

Meanwhile, two other books centered on the Sussexes and the Cambridges are slated for release this year.

Royal author Robert Lacey is focusing on Prince William and Prince Harry’s alleged feud in his book.

Battle of Brothers: William and Harry – the Friendship and the Feuds will be available in October.

“With unrivaled knowledge of court life and access to impeccable sources, Robert Lacey investigates the untold reality of the brothers’ relationship, explaining what happened when two sons were raised for vastly different futures and showing how the seeds of damage were sown as their parents’ marriage unraveled,” the book’s synopsis states.

Omid Scobie and Carolyn Durand will also release their book about the Sussexes in August.

Finding Freedom: Harry, Meghan, and the Making of a Modern Royal Family will shed light on the misconceptions about the royal couple.

According to the Daily Beast, there are fears that Prince William will be painted as the bad guy in the book.
