Angelina Jolie originally did not have any plan to adopt a child from Vietnam because her eldest son Maddox belonged to Cambodia. The actress has opened up about why she changed her mind. 

 

The Maleficent star has acknowledged that she did not intend to adopt a baby from Vietnam because Maddox, her first adopted child was from Cambodia. The actress was speaking to Vogue when she briefly discussed her adopted children. 

 

In 2002, the Salt actress had adopted Maddox from Cambodia. Just five years later, Brad Pitt’s former wife adopted Pax from Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. The Hollywood A-lister adopted Pax when he was just three-year-old. 

 

Jolie was asked whether it was a conscious decision on her part to adopt a baby from Vietnam as the two nations have been in a war once. The actress confessed while she originally did not have any intention to adopt a Vietnamese child, she changed her mind later.

 

Angelina Jolie also admitted she did not want to adopt a child from Vietnam as the two nations have a complex relationship. However, the actress had a change of heart while reading a book on human rights.

 

She saw a picture of a Vietnamese soldier in that book that was captured by the American army. The image moved her so much that she decided to include a Vietnamese child in her family. 

 

Jolie feels blessed to be their mother and is “grateful every day.” Mr. & Mrs. Smith star has adopted three children. Apart from Pax and Maddox, the actress is also mom to her adopted daughter, Zahara. 

 

The Eternal star admitted that she was unable to discuss pregnancy with her adopted kids. However, she did share how she found out each of them and her emotions when she first made eye contact with all three of them.

 

Recently, Angie opened up about the prevailing system in America concerning colored people. Jolie spoke about discrimination and racism in the United States. The actress admitted while she could be benefitted because of the system, her daughter Zahara would be vulnerable. 

 

Jolie has also discussed her split from Brad Pitt and her work. She reportedly said her decision to separate was for her family’s wellbeing, CNN reports. The actress thinks it was the right decision for her and she is focusing “on their healing.” On the other hand, a spokesperson for the Fight Club actor reportedly told the actor did not want to comment on that. 

 

Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt decided to split after being married for two years and a month. The couple had tied the knot in August 2014.
