Prince Harry missed an opportunity to visit his father, King Charles III, during a recent trip to London, amid escalating tensions over security protections and internal family strains. Sources familiar with the situation said the Duke of Sussex was dissuaded from seeing his ailing father, reportedly due to concerns about upsetting his wife, Meghan Markle.

Harry, 40, returned to the United Kingdom on April 6 to attend a two-day appeal hearing over the loss of his government-funded security detail. King Charles, 76, was in London at the same time for cancer treatment, but the two did not meet. "At the moment, Harry does not seem to have a relationship with his father at all. It's truly sad," royal expert Richard Fitzwilliams told Us Weekly.

Sources told RadarOnline.com that Harry’s absence from the king’s bedside was influenced by Meghan. "Harry would have liked to pay his dad a visit, but he didn't – and everyone is saying it was his fear of upsetting Meghan that held him back," an insider said. Meghan, 43, has not visited the U.K. since attending Queen Elizabeth II's funeral in 2022.

While in London, Harry described feeling "exhausted and overwhelmed" by the court proceedings. His attorneys argued that the removal of his police protection was unjust, citing ongoing threats from neo-Nazi groups and al-Qaeda. Harry said the public would "be shocked" if the full circumstances surrounding the security decision were disclosed.

The communication breakdown between Harry and Charles has deepened amid mutual distrust. Royal insiders said Charles has not responded to Harry’s messages and is unwilling to intervene with RAVEC, the executive committee overseeing the security of public figures. "Prince Harry doesn't seem to understand that Charles can't get involved," one source said. "It's between Harry and the Home Office."

Adding to the strain, insiders allege Harry is contemplating a second memoir or a tell-all podcast that could expose further private family matters. "The more he's ignored, the angrier he gets," a source said.

Royal historian Marlene Koenig noted, "Charles loves his son. But at this time, he and his advisers prefer the tough love treatment."

Meanwhile, Harry’s rising public profile continues to fuel friction within the family. Meghan recently launched a new podcast, Confessions of a Female Founder, and her Netflix series With Love, Meghan has been renewed for a second season. Harry made a surprise visit to Ukraine on April 10 to meet with wounded soldiers, a move that insiders criticized for overshadowing King Charles and Queen Camilla’s official state visit to Italy.

The broader royal family reportedly remains cautious about private discussions with Harry. "In a nutshell, the royal family does not trust Harry," Fitzwilliams said, citing concerns that "something he says privately could be used in court."
