Amber Heard has temporarily traded the Hollywood limelight for a quieter life in Madrid, Spain, following her high-profile court battle against ex-husband Johnny Depp. According to a source, the 37-year-old actress is raising her 2-year-old daughter Oonagh in Madrid and is content with her life there, away from the public eye.

"She's bilingual in Spanish and is happy there, raising her daughter away from all the noise," a source revealed, adding that it's uncertain whether Heard is currently in a relationship. The insider also mentioned that Heard's move may not be permanent, saying, "I don't think she is in any hurry to return to work or to Hollywood, but she will probably come back when the time is right for the right project."

Depp, 59, sued Heard for defamation after she wrote an op-ed that portrayed him as physically, verbally, and sexually abusive, without explicitly naming him. Heard countersued for defamation, and after an intense, widely-followed trial, Depp emerged victorious. The court ordered Heard to pay $10 million, while she received $2 million in compensatory damages.

Heard and her legal team initially planned to appeal the verdict, arguing that negative social media portrayals of the actress influenced the outcome. However, they eventually settled the case, with Heard issuing a public statement.

"I defended my truth, and in doing so, my life as I knew it was destroyed. The vilification I have faced on social media is an amplified version of the ways women are re-victimized when they come forward," she said, adding, "I have made no admission. This is not an act of concession. There are no restrictions or gags with respect to my voice moving forward."

A few months after the trial concluded in June 2022, an insider claimed that Depp "has always said he wasn't looking to destroy her. He said it wasn't about money, and it's not! He just wanted the truth."
