In the wake of her unexpected divorce from Jim Toth, friends of Reese Witherspoon are urging the actress to explore the possibility of reuniting with her first husband, Ryan Phillippe, according to insiders.

The 47-year-old star of "The Morning Show" recently announced the end of her nearly 12-year marriage to Toth, her former talent agent and father of her youngest child. Sources reveal that throughout this difficult time, Ryan, 48, has been a solid support system for Reese.

“Even at the height of their respective troubles, the bond, sheer love and respect between Reese and Ryan have never gone away,” an insider shares, according to Globe magazine.

The former couple has been there for each other through some challenging times, including Ryan's tumultuous split and assault case involving ex-girlfriend and Playboy model Elsie Hewitt. Hewitt sued Phillippe in 2017, alleging he kicked, punched, and threw her down stairs. The actor denied the allegations, and the case was settled two years later.

On the other hand, Ryan provided comfort to Reese during her 2013 disorderly conduct arrest, which occurred after Toth was apprehended by Georgia police for suspected DUI. Reese later admitted her actions were “embarrassing and dumb” and pleaded guilty.

Reese and Ryan married in 1999 and had two children, Ava, 23, and Deacon, 19, before parting ways after seven years of marriage.

“Reese adores Ryan and she’s been leaning on him more when her marriage was effectively dead,” the insider discloses. “They’re great friends but have been very careful not to confuse their boundaries.”

With Toth no longer in the picture, friends are reportedly rooting for Reese and Ryan to give their relationship another chance, a sentiment their children would also support.
