Bruce Willis is reportedly fighting for his life for the sake of his future grandchildren.

A source told National Enquirer that Willis was thrilled to know that his eldest daughter, Rumer Willis is pregnant with her first child.

Hearing the news reportedly served as a motivation for the actor to get well amid his battle with aphasia.

“The thought of soon becoming a grandfather is a huge motivator for Bruce to work hard on his speech and language therapy to try to stave off the worst effects of his condition. He’s determined to stay coherent and lucid for as long as possible so his grandchild can have some happy memories of a grandfather who was present and active in his or her life,” the source said.

Unfortunately for the actor, he’s reportedly in a race against time. After all, no matter what he does and how much therapy he undergoes, he is still at risk of losing his neurological functions.

According to Dr. Michael Tuchman, Willis’ condition is not treatable and he only has five more years left before all the symptoms take over his body.

“Bruce has never backed away from a challenge. He’s dead set that this new baby is going to get the best he has to offer,” the source said.

While it is true that Willis is determined to fight for his life, he is most likely doing this for his entire family and not just for his future grandchild. In the past, his ex-wife, Demi Moore gave an update about the actor’s condition and said that Willis seems to be doing better.

But since then, not much is known about the actor’s health. So, it is unclear how much progress Willis has been getting or if his condition is deteriorating.

Meanwhile, the entire Willis family is looking forward to the arrival of Rumer’s first child. The actress made an announcement just days before Christmas. And she also shared a photo of her growing baby bump on social media.

Moore, who will be a grandmother for the first time ever, also gushed over her unborn grandchild.

“Saying hello to the little nibblet!! It's an honor to witness your journey into motherhood, and can't wait to welcome this baby into the world!” she wrote alongside a photo of herself with her daughters while Rumer is getting checked at a hospital.
