Zoe Saldaña is opening up about her role as Gamora in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

People recalled that the 44-year-old actress shared her thoughts on the matter during an interview with “InStyle” for its Winter 2022 digital issue. She appeared to have discussed some of the pros and cons of playing the character, which first emerged in the MCU’s “Guardian of the Galaxy” franchise.

At one point in the exchange, Saldaña is said to have talked about the intense script secrecy in Marvel and deemed the dynamic “not cool.” She also stated that it “can be annoying sometimes,” explaining that it leaves her little time to prepare and memorize, as per the outlet.

In its report, published Sunday, People quoted the Marvel actress from the interview, saying, “That can be annoying sometimes. That’s not cool, because you have to memorize, you have to prepare, you have to do research. And I tend to take myself a little too seriously sometimes.”

The magazine consequently recalled the moment Zoe Saldaña got in a little bit of trouble with Marvel when she posted a video of herself in her Gamora look as she scanned through pages of a binder containing materials for her role and the movie on Instagram.

She later removed the clip, originally posted in February, and uploaded a new one with highlighter marks covering the binder.

The “Avatar” actress noted in the caption of the new post that she “had to take this down before because of Marvel Security.” She added, “Now that I covered what they don’t want you to see, let’s just focus on the Mate!!!!!”

But, Zoe Saldaña explained in the same interview that she takes her job seriously, along with all the responsibilities it entails, as per the magazine.

The actress is said to have pointed out that she enjoys “working with filmmakers who don’t underestimate my intelligence,” and those who “know that I am an adult,” adding that she “will be discreet,” as “it is as important to me, as it is for him or her, that I don’t let these scripts out of my sight.”

Despite the challenges, Zoe Saldaña said that playing the role of Gamora has its advantages, as well. She told “InStyle” elsewhere in the exchange that these perks include her children realizing their mother is a guardian of the galaxy.

The “Adam Project” actress shared that her children would “watch these movies,” and the materials would become “a part of what they like and what excites them.” She added that it is also “fun” and “great” how the role gives her “street cred with my kids.”
