Gwen Stefani allegedly plans to shift gears when it comes to her music career.

A source told National Enquirer that the No Doubt singer wants to try her luck in the world of country music and eventually compete with her husband, Blake Shelton.

However, the source said that even though Shelton has been very supportive of his wife’s career, sharing the stage with Stefani or even competing with her is giving him a bad taste in his mouth.

Unfortunately for Shelton, it seems that there’s no stopping Stefani, especially after the warmth that she received from country music fans.

“Playing the Grand Ole Opry made her feel country music fans will embrace her,” the source said.

However, the source also said that Shelton is still traumatized by the fact that he once dated a country superstar: Miranda Lambert.

“Blake was already married to a country queen in Miranda Lambert and that turned out to be a disaster. The last thing he wants is to compete against Gwen on the country music charts and see Gwen win,” the source said.

However, the source also insists that Stefani knows she doesn’t need Shelton to succeed in the world of country music. After all, she can do her own promotions, release her own songs, and even have several live performances.

“But she’s happy to go out on her own in Nashville and give her career a needed boost. It’s become a big sticking point between them,” the source said.

However, one should take the tabloid’s claims with a grain of salt. It’s obvious that the tabloid just made up this story about Stefani and Shelton because they don’t have anything to criticize the couple for.

Stefani has no plans to shift gears and become a country artist. After all, she has been releasing songs under a different genre for years.

And even if she decides to shift to country music, this is something that she can do and succeed in. And she will most definitely have Shelton’s support.

As a married couple, there’s no reason for Stefani and Shelton to compete with each other or outdo each other because they should work as a team.

And it doesn’t also seem as though Stefani and Shelton ever want to outdo each other, especially in the industry that they’ve been in for years.
