Michelle Branch and Patrick Carney called off their divorce. They appear to have decided to work on their marriage following the controversies surrounding their relationship.

People obtained the documents, filed Tuesday, detailing the two artists’ request to suspend their divorce proceedings for six months. As noted, a judge signed off on the legal papers, effecting the suspension.

Branch and Carney may reportedly undergo counseling during the six-month suspension. At the end of the signed period, they are said to decide whether to proceed with the divorce and ultimately call it off.

As per the magazine, the document reads, “As evidenced by the signature below, that the parties, Michelle Jacquet Branch and Patrick James Carney, are seeking a suspension of the divorce proceedings in this case to effect reconciliation.”

It continues, “The parties may participate in counseling service to effectuate reconciliation and/or may resume living together as husband and wife and their acts and conducts in doing so shall not be determined condonation of any prior misconduct and all acts or actions by the parties prior to the entry of this order shall remain and constitute grounds for divorce.”

Michelle Branch filed for divorce from Patrick Carney in August. She cited “irreconcilable differences” as the reason for the split per the legal filing, according to Page Six,

The “Everywhere” singer also reportedly requested primary custody of her and the “Black Keys” drummer’s two children, as well as child support. This was said to be on top of the request that the artist pay her legal fees.

The publication later noted that TMZ was the first to report about the matter.

The divorce filing came a few days after Michelle Branch was arrested for domestic assault. Reportedly, she slapped Patrick Carney in the face on August 11 following the allegations of cheating on the drummer’s part.

In breaking the news, TMZ said it obtained court papers that detail the incident. It reported that police were called to the two artists’ home in Nashville for a “possible domestic disturbance” around 2 in the morning, as per the documents, adding that the “All You Wanted” singer admitted in it she had slapped her husband “one to two times.”

The outlet later stated that Branch was taken into custody and was set on a $1,000 bail. She was reportedly released from custody early, though, because she was breastfeeding their 6-month-old child.

Earlier that day, TMZ also broke the news that Patrick Carney and Michelle Branch were parting ways after three years of marriage. As reported, the singer made a cheating allegation against her husband on social media the night prior but has since deleted the post.
