Queen Elizabeth’s death is mourned across the globe. But she is also leaving behind an important legacy.

While speaking with Closer UK, former royal butler Paul Burrell claimed that the queen’s legacy is to bring the royal family closer to each other. She would also be thrilled to know that Prince William and Prince Harry already took the first step in thawing their frosty relationship.

“I sincerely hope that can happen – that Her Majesty’s greatest legacy will be to have reunited her family at this very emotionally difficult time and help them to work through their differences and forge some kind of path for the future,” he said.

Burrell also said that the queen never really recovered from the death of Prince Philip. Even though she tried her best to continue with her royal duties, it was obvious that her health deteriorated after her husband passed away. Over a year later, she followed the Duke of Edinburgh.

“Even after Prince Philip passed away last year, she wanted to go out there and meet the public. She didn’t want to shy away and go quiet. Her Majesty didn’t want to scale down her engagements, she wanted the people to see her,” Burrell said.

The queen also had to endure the next couple of months with Prince Philip to lean on. And even though she never verbalized her sentiments, those close to her must have heard her say how much she missed her husband on multiple occasions.

And prior to her death, Prince Charles has already been attending bridge meetings on behalf of the queen in preparation for what may come.

“The queen didn’t attend. But she had been handing over a lot of paperwork because she knew Charles would need to know how to run the royal estates,” he said.

Today, the entire world, especially the UK, is still in mourning following the queen’s passing. Even though Prince Charles has already been proclaimed as the king of Britain, royal fans are still saddened by the fact that the queen would be the last queen in a long time.

After all, Prince William and Prince George will succeed King Charles in the coming years. So, it will take decades before a queen is born again.
