“The Crown” has found the actors who will play Kate Middleton and Prince William for its sixth and final season.

MailOnline reported that the Netflix hit series released a casting call earlier in April for the role of a young Duchess of Cambridge. As noted, they were looking for a “stunning actress” for the character.

On Friday, the production welcomed the new additions to the cast and named Meg Bellamy to play the character. She will take on the role opposite Ed McVey, who will play her on-screen partner as the Duke of Cambridge.

Previously, the show reportedly issued a casting call for the characters of Prince Charles' two sons. The show was said to be looking for "exceptional young actors" of 16-21 years of age to play the roles.

The outlet noted that Bellamy and McVey will portray the young Kate Middleton and Prince William, particularly during their college years at St. Andrews University, where they first met. It is also the period in which their romance blossomed, resulting in them becoming a couple.

Speaking to the publication, a source said that having the actress for the Duchess of Cambridge's character "is an easy win for 'The Crown' as it will get more people watching."

As added, with her arrival to the cast, the plot for Season 6 will be able to "show [the future Queen Consort's] relationship with Prince William as their romance starts to blossom when they were both students."

The same insider pointed out, though, that Kate Middleton's character is only a "bonus" as she is "not a crucial part of the storyline."

"The Crown" Season 6 began filming earlier this month, according to Tatler. But, it remains unclear when the installment will hit Netflix.

The publication also noted that the series heads are "adamant" that the sixth and final season of the material will not cover "present day" events, such as Kate Middleton and Prince William's wedding and Meghan Markle's arrival to the British Royal Family. It is said, nevertheless, that the title will conclude in the "mid-noughties."

Meanwhile, "The Crown" is set to return later this year with its fifth season. The new installment, which will feature a new set of cast members, will drop on Netflix in November 2022, according to Harper's Bazaar.

Imelda Staunton replaced Olivia Coleman for the role of Queen Elizabeth II in Season 5. The same goes for the rest of the cast members to reflect the passage of time, with Elizabeth Debicki and Dominic West taking on the roles of Princess Diana and Prince Charles.

Avid fans and viewers last saw the series with a new set of episodes in November 2020.
