Billy Joel’s sudden weight gain is allegedly causing his family and friends to worry.

In its Aug. 8 issue, Globe claimed that the musician gained 50 pounds after losing a considerable amount of weight just months earlier.

A source claimed that Joel is still able to perform on stage for his fans. But those close to him are worried that he wouldn’t be able to do so for long.

“Billy’s still belting out the tunes on stage, but the fear is his weight will become a major health issue for him if he doesn’t cut back on the fatty foods and carbs. He loves to stuff his face full of pasta and homemade sauce and cheesecake because he enjoys food. Billy refuses to die and ridicules the guys who pick at their food,” the source said.

The source also claimed that Joel wouldn’t be satisfied with what he was eating if he won’t be enjoying a five-course meal on the table. But his family and friends have been encouraging him to straighten out his act before it’s too late.

“His family and friends are pushing him to do something before he becomes grossly obese and has to be rolled onstage in a wheelchair,” the source said.

But by the looks of it, the tabloid took Joel’s previous statement out of context. The singer previously joked that a guy who is on a diet is not a guy as far as he’s concerned.

He also said that he can judge a woman that he’s dating by the way she eats. And if the woman she’s seeing picks at her food, this could mean that she’s not good in bed.

What’s more, Joel previously admitted that pasta is his downfall. And one of his favorite plates of pasta to eat on a Sunday is one with so much sauce, olives, and tomatoes.

But even if this is the case, there’s no proof that Joel gained 50 pounds to the point that his family and friends are worried about him.

It’s obvious that he was just joking when he talked about his dating life and about guys who go on diet.

It’s not also true that if Joel doesn’t stop eating his favorite pasta, he would be in danger of being rolled on stage so that he could still perform for his fans.
