Princess Diana shocked the world after wearing the so-called “revenge dress” in 1994. But, reports recently claimed that Camilla Parker Bowles also did the same thing about a year later.

Cheat Sheet unearthed the claims, saying the Duchess of Cornwall once wore a black “revenge dress,” as well, like the Princess of Wales.

As noted, the now-next Queen Consort’s outfit choice “caused a stir” among royal fans and watchers due to the resemblance it had with the Prince of Wales’ first wife.

It reportedly occurred when she and Prince Charles stepped out in public for the first time as a pair in 1995.

The claims first surfaced in Express UK years after the said moment. It stated that Camilla Parker Bowles was with Prince Charles when she wore the similar “revenge dress” as they attended her sister’s 50th birthday at London’s Ritz Hotel.

As described, the dress in question was a “shoulder-baring” black piece similar to what Princess Diana wore a year earlier. In addition, she was said to have worn black pantyhose, high heels, and a pearl necklace, all of which are reportedly “identical” to the Princess of Wales’ ensemble.

The same outlet also claimed that the Duchess of Cornwall seemingly took a “style inspiration” from the Prince of Wales’ first wife.

It later added that the outing of the then-infamous pair was dubbed “Operation Ritz” by the media.

Princess Diana wore the infamous “revenge dress” to a party hosted by Vanity Fair in 1994. Reader’s Digest referred to it as a “dress not-so-fit for a princess” because of its daring features, and it reportedly breaks several royal protocols.

Speaking to the publication, Kerry Taylor, whose company auctioned off the most recognizable dresses of the late royal in 2013, explained why the little black dress became the well-known “revenge dress.” She said it was because the Princess of Wales wore it “the same evening Prince Charles confessed to his adultery with Camilla [Parker Bowles].”

Despite this, though, the outlet noted that it remains unclear what the Princess of Wales’ true intentions are for wearing the black ensemble. This came after designer Christina Stambolian revealed that the dress had been made for the royal three years prior to the event.

Nevertheless, stylist Anna Harvey told the publication that Princess Diana had initially planned on wearing a different piece, but made a last-minute switch and chose to wear the “revenge dress.”

Similarly, there remains no confirmation whether Camilla Parker Bowles did choose to wear a "revenge dress" like the Princess of Wales. This makes the reports about the matter highly speculative at best.
