Jennifer Lopez couldn’t be prouder of her 14-year-old daughter, Emme Muniz.

The teenager performed Christina Perri’s hit song, “A Thousand Years” during a recent show. Before Emme took to the stage, Lopez introduced her using they and their pronouns.

Now, a source is telling Heat UK that Lopez is very proud of her daughter for coming to terms with who she is.

“Jen is so proud of Emme and the beautiful young person they’ve turned out to be. She’s always encouraged Emme and Max to follow whatever path they feel is best, and she’s hoping it sets an example to other parents. Emme is a very sweet, thoughtful kid, and so talented. It’s looking like they will go into showbiz at some point, whether it’s singing, acting, or dancing,” the source said.

Lopez also performed her hit song, “Let’s Get Loud” with Emme on stage. And the doting mom hilariously revealed that she always asks her daughter to perform with her, but Emme would always refuse. Lopez joked that it cost her a huge sum to have her teenager perform with her on stage.

“Jen doesn’t believe in conforming to something just because it’s frowned upon in some outdated, conservative circle. She’s a real mama bear when it comes to protecting her kids and just wants Emme to be happy,” the source said.

Following Emme’s recent outing, multiple publications started speculating about her sexuality. Some wondered if using they and them pronouns meant that the 14-year-old is gay. Others explained that the pronouns meant that Emme is gender-neutral.

According to reports, the buzz surrounding Emme isn’t surprising. After all, she and her twin brother, Max were dubbed as Hollywood’s most expensive babies back in 2008.

Shortly after they were born, People magazine reportedly paid Lopez and Marc Anthony $6 million to publish a photo of their twins.

At a very young age, Emme and Max grew up in different households after their parents split. But for the most part, they lived with their mom, who has custody of them.

Emme and Max also have a wonderful relationship with their dad. And even though they don’t live in the same house, Marc Anthony is always present during his children’s most important life events.

The twins have also formed a special bond with their future stepdad, Ben Affleck.
