Prince William has never forgotten his late mother, Princess Diana after all these years.

A palace insider told New Idea that Prince William remembered the Princess of Wales when he turned 40 years old on June 21.

“William doesn’t talk about Diana too often, except to Kate and Harry. And obviously, that’s no longer happening. Apparently, he got quite emotional this year while talking about Diana over a glass of wine. William can’t stop thinking what it would be like if his mom was still with him, particularly as he dedicates his life to one of her favorite causes – fighting homelessness,” the source said.

The source also said that Princess Diana would’ve been very proud of Prince William if she was still around. In fact, she would’ve also had a wonderful time bonding with Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis.

When the Duke of Cambridge was much younger, the Princess of Wales used to call him “wombat.” The source said that the nickname would’ve been passed on to Prince George.

“And she would simply dote on Princess Charlotte. She would be the daughter Diana never had. But most of all, she would encourage cheeky little Louis to get in all sorts of trouble, just like she did with her own boys,” the source said.

But as fun as Prince William’s 40th birthday celebration was, the source revealed that the future king did not hear a single word from Prince Harry.

According to the source, the Duke of Cambridge made it clear a long time ago that he needed some time away from his younger brother. But he didn’t expect their distance to be this huge.

“There’s been a lot going on between his packed schedule, his grandmother’s ill health, and his brother’s continued estrangement. It’s been a weird time. William’s truly upset and has broken down over Harry to Kate many times lately,” the source said.

However, one should take the tabloid’s claims with a grain of salt because no one knows what goes through Prince William’s mind. Even though it’s possible for the Duke of Cambridge to miss his late mother terribly, he rarely talks about her during his interviews.
