Jennifer Lopez gave an emotional speech when she received the “Generation Award” at the Movie & TV Awards 2022. While Ben Affleck was not with her during the evening, she made a sweet gesture and called his name out on stage.

Geo News reported that the awarding ceremony occurred on Sunday evening. MTV Awards presented the “Marry Me” actress the non-competitive honor, which is said to “celebrate beloved actors whose diverse contributions to both film and television have turned them into household names.”

Lopez had a lengthy, emotional speech upon accepting the award. Before leaving the stage, though, she stated, “Ben and everybody at home, wait for me to have dinner,” adding that she would be home by 7.

The 52-year-old celebrity had a “different kind of list of thank-yous” in her acceptance speech. Alongside mentioning the people who gave her “this life,” she also thanked those “who broke [her] heart,” according to People.

Jennifer Lopez continued that she wanted to thank “the ones who were true, and the ones who lied to [her].” She consequently expressed gratitude to “the way that [she] lied to [herself],” noting that it is how she knew she had to grow.

The “On The Floor” singer went on to thank “disappointment and failure” as they have taught her to be “strong.” She also thanked her children “for teaching [her] to love.”

The same publication shared that Jennifer Lopez is not the only recipient of the “Generation Award.” As it happens, several other celebrities have also obtained the honor in the previous awarding ceremonies.

Some of them are Chris Pratt, Scarlett Johansson, Reese Witherspoon, Will Smith, Robert Downey, Jr., Johnny Depp, Sandra Bullock, and Mark Wahlberg. The list includes Adam Sandlert, Tom Cruise, Jim Carrey, and Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, as well.

Meanwhile, the “Monster-In-Law” actress also took home the Best Song Award on Sunday. She bagged the trophy for the track, “On My Way,” which is part of the “Marry Me” soundtrack.

The awards Jennifer Lopez received on Sunday come more than two months after she won the “Icon Award” at the iHeartRadio Music Awards. In her “heartfelt” acceptance speech, she thanked everyone, as well, including her fans and followers.

People said that the “Selena” star was interrupted a couple of times during the delivery of her speech. There reportedly was a “roaring crowd,” which included her partner, and now-fiancé, Ben Affleck, who stood and clapped for Lopez.

The two celebrities confirmed their engagement weeks after the said awards night. They have yet to share any details, though, with regard to their wedding.
