Queen Elizabeth has been on the throne for 70 years and some royal fans believe that it’s time for her to abdicate.

A recent poll revealed that out of 865 respondents, 54.57 percent want the queen to pass on The Crown to her grandson, Prince William. After all, the queen has been serving her people for seven decades and she’s not getting any younger either, according to Express.

However, the respondents also favored Prince William to be the queen’s successor and not Prince Charles. They insist that the royal family should make some changes to the Order of Succession by skipping one generation of successors.

Another poll also showed that over 73 percent of the respondents believe that Prince William will be a better king than Prince Charles. After all, he is more modern than his father.

However, it is important to note that polls won’t dictate what would happen to the Order of Succession. In fact, even the royal family or the queen doesn’t have a say on who will succeed her. After all, it was the British parliament that came up with this ruling years ago.

As such, the queen will be succeeded by her eldest son, Prince Charles. And the only time that Prince William would ascend the throne is after Prince Charles dies or abdicates.

It’s unlikely for the heir to the throne to abdicate because he has been a king-in-waiting for many years. So, when the time comes for him to lead the British monarchy, it’s highly likely for Prince Charles to make the most out of his term.

Meanwhile, the queen has no plans to abdicate. But what she is doing is relieving some of her royal duties and engagements to Prince Charles.

Due to her mobility issues, the queen is no longer able to make public appearances as frequently as she did before. In fact, she also passed on the important task of giving a speech at the Opening of Parliament to Prince Charles.

If the queen would be succeeded by Prince William and not Prince Charles then the monarch would’ve given the Duke of Cambridge the task of giving a speech at the Order of Parliament.

For now, royal fans are also anticipating the next time that they would see Her Majesty. And this could be at her Platinum Jubilee next month.
