Bill Gates has no regrets about marrying Melinda French Gates. This is despite their divorce after 27 years of marriage.

Speaking to London’s Sunday Times, the Microsoft founder described his marriage to his former wife as “great.” He, also, stated that he “would not have changed it,” adding that he “would not choose to marry someone else," according to Us Weekly.

Gates, later on, clarified that he was talking about the subject of “‘would I marry Melinda all over again.’” In terms of his future, however, he shared that he does not have any plans, although he “highly recommends marriage.”

Melinda French Gates and Bill Gates shocked the world when they announced their breakup in May 2021. On Twitter, the high-profile personalities shared that they had “made the decision to end [their] marriage.”

The pair did not, however, dwell into the details of how they arrived at the decision to go their separate ways. But, they did point out that they went through “a great deal of thought and a lot of work on [their] relationship” before making the move.

The 66-year-old business magnate and the 57-year-old philanthropist, also, looked back on their marriage upon announcing their split. They said they have “raised three incredible children and built a foundation that works all over the world to enable all people to lead healthy, productive lives” over the last 27 years.

Three months later, the divorce was finalized. Bill Gates and Melinda French Gates continued to remain silent about the matter in the months that followed.

Nevertheless, reports said that the former couple still work together with The Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. The Microsoft founder even feels he is friends with his former wife, although she reportedly denied it in a recent interview.

The tech mogul opened up about it, saying he would reportedly use the word “friend” despite Melinda choosing otherwise. It is, also, said that Gates sees himself and his ex-wife in a “super important, complex, close relationship, where [they have] chosen to work together.”

In the end, though, he revealed that he is “very happy” to be able to do so.

After months of silence, Melinda French Gates opened up about the split and divorce from Bill Gates earlier in March. She sat down for an exclusive interview with CBS Mornings, according to People.

The philanthropist pointed out that there “was not one moment” that led to their breakup. There was not “one specific thing that happened” either.

She shared that “there just came a point in time where there was enough there,” causing her to realize that “it just was not healthy, and [she] could not trust what [they] had.”
