Meghan Markle allegedly felt trapped and overwhelmed with all the attention that she received as a royal.

In its May 2 issue, OK! magazine claimed that Markle was used to getting attention as an actress. After all, she starred as Rachel in Suits for six seasons.

But the Duchess of Sussex couldn’t have anticipated the attention that she would receive as Prince Harry’s wife.

“There was a time when Meghan pursued the spotlight. But that significantly changed after she married Harry. The level of fame that was thrust on here has been overwhelming,” the source said.

The source added that Markle couldn’t be happier with her decision to quit The Firm and relocate to the United States.

“Home is the only place she feels totally safe, and she loves having privacy. She’s usually hanging with the kids or keeping busy in her home office. She works a lot, so it’s easy for her to just stay on the property day after day,” the source said.

However, the insider claimed that there’s a downside to Markle’s living arrangements in Montecito. They said that Markle rarely interacts with other people so she feels as though she is living in a cage.

“At times, it must feel like Meghan’s living in a gilded cage. She can’t leave without people recognizing her, which often happens in a small town like Montecito. It’s just easier that way, but many feel like it must be hell to be stuck in the house as though she were locked in a prison – no matter how beautiful it is,” the source said.

However, one should take the tabloid’s claims with a grain of salt.

There’s no indication that Markle struggled with the fame that she received as a senior working royal.

And it’s not also true that Markle gets recognized everywhere she goes and every time she goes around Montecito.

After all, a journalist recently revealed that Prince Harry and Markle’s neighbors have never seen them roaming around the neighborhood. So, they never felt as though the Duke and Duchess of Sussex are part of the community.

It’s not also true that Markle feels trapped at home. After all, she and Prince Harry decided to relocate to the United States because they thought this is where they would have a quieter and more peaceful life.
