The Met Gala 2022 is back on track for its traditional first Monday of May schedule. But, Zendaya has already confirmed her absence at the grand event due to her projects.

Page Six reported that the 25-year-old actress told Extra about missing the upcoming event. When asked about her attendance, she stated that she would be working on that day, adding that she is “sorry to disappoint” her fans.

The “Euphoria” star continued that she has got to work “and make some movies.” Even so, she wishes “everyone the best” and assured to make a comeback “eventually.”

The publication, then, noted that Zendaya will make up for her absence throughout the year with better red carpet looks and ensembles. This comes after the celebrity teased that she would “keep delivering in other ways.”

As recalled, the “Dune” actress last attended the annual event in 2019. She stunned fans and the public with her “Cinderella” gown that “magically transformed colors” before everyone with the help of stylist Law Roach.

The star first became a guest of the Met Gala in 2015. She donned the iconic whimsical look created by Fausto Puglisi.

She never missed her attendance at the exclusive event from that year up to 2019. She was not able to attend last year’s gala due to filming the hit HBO series, “Euphoria.”

Following the confirmation earlier this week, In Style released a run-down of all the looks Zendaya had for the Met Gala events from 2015 to 2019. It even said that the celebrity managed to make “fashion history” with all of her ensembles.

The “Cinderella” gown from three years ago was from Tommy Hilfiger. The design, as well as the “Spider-Man: No Way Home” star’s performance that night reportedly nailed the theme, “Camp: Notes on Fashion.”

The previous year, Zendaya opted to channel Joan of Arc to interpret the theme, “Heavenly Bodies: Fashion and the Catholic Imagination.” She donned a silver dress for Versace that looked like armor.

In 2017, the then-20-year-old celebrity wore a Dolce & Gabbana gown that featured a parrot print and hints of red. The year prior, she sported a shiny, metallic dress from Michael Kors.

Zendaya previously talked about how she approaches “dressing and posing” on red carpets, according to Elle. She revealed that she sees red carpets as “having their own characters and narratives.”

The “Greatest Showman” actress continued that “it is like an extension of [her] acting career in a weird way.” She, also, asserted that “clothes sometimes are very emotional,” adding that she “gets to embody these different facets.”
