Prince Charles allegedly spoke to Prince Andrew in person and asked him to skip Prince Philip’s memorial service.

In its April 18 issue, In Touch Weekly claimed that Prince Andrew initially agreed to not attend his dad’s memorial service. But when Queen Elizabeth found out why, the monarch put her foot down and insisted that the Duke of York should be there.

What’s more, the queen also asked Prince Andrew to escort her to Westminster Abbey as a sign of her support for her disgraced son.

“Prince Charles couldn’t believe that Andrew had the audacity to show his face, but the queen wanted her favorite son by her side, so she completely ignored Charles’ wishes. There was a lot of drama behind the scenes and it almost ruined the day,” the source said.

The insider added that Prince Andrew’s attendance was a slap in the face for Prince Charles and the other members of the royal family.

“He had specifically asked his brother not to attend, but their mother overruled him. She took sides against everyone’s better judgment. Including Prince Andrew was the queen’s way of showing she’s still in charge and as a woman who’s about to turn 96 years old, she isn’t as fussed as she used to be about what other people think. But Charles was fuming,” the source said.

Other than Prince Charles, Prince William was also allegedly upset with the queen’s decision to allow Prince Andrew to attend the memorial service.

The father and son are also, allegedly, convinced that the Duke of York would be a thorn on their side after the queen passes away. But for now, there’s nothing much that they could do.

“Charles and William acted with dignity and just completely ignored Andrew while the cameras were rolling. But there were definitely angry words afterward. The whole sad event only reminded everyone of how many cracks there are in the foundation of the royal family,” the source said.

However, one should take the tabloid’s claims with a grain of salt.

No one knows for sure how Prince Charles and Prince William felt when Prince Andrew attended the memorial service, but it’s unlikely for them to have been upset.

After all, the Duke of York has a right to attend the memorial service because he is also Prince Philip’s son. And since it’s a family affair and not a royal engagement, Prince Andrew had the right to be there.
