Pete Davidson will no longer join the NS-20 crew on the next Blue Origin mission. The announcement reportedly comes after the space company moved the launch date of the flight nearly a week later.

CNN Business said that the rocket was set for a March 23 launch, which will bring six individuals to space, including the “Saturday Night Live” player. But, the Jeff Bezos-owned venture postponed the mission, which is now slated to fly on March 29.

The official announcement from Blue Origin surfaced on its official Twitter account on Thursday. At the same time, it informed the public about Davidson bowing out, adding that it will announce the replacement crew member in the coming days.

The rest of the NS-20 crew members are still set to go on the flight. The publication recalled that these are Marty Allen, Jim Kitchen, George Nield, Marc Hagle, and Sharon Hagle.

It is unclear why Pete Davidson decided to give up his spot in the upcoming flight mission. He has, also, yet to release any official statement about the matter.

E! News noted, nevertheless, that there is a possibility of conflict in schedule. As reported, the 28-year-old comedian has a “jam-packed work schedule” that may have kept him from joining the flight.

Alongside his stint on “Saturday Night Live,” he is said to be currently filming, as well, for the upcoming material, “The Home on the East Coast.”

The public first had confirmation of Pete Davidson’s participation on the next Blue Origin flight on Monday. The space company made an official announcement, noting that the celebrity would be a part of its 20th mission to space.

It was, also, revealed that, as part of the mission, Davidson and the rest of the crew members will each carry a postcard for the company’s foundation, Club for the Future. The program, which carries the name “Postcards to Space,” aims to give students access to space using Blue Origin’s rockets.

Meanwhile, the flights, which reportedly last up to 11 minutes, give passengers a few minutes of weightlessness above the Earth’s surface.

Pete Davidson first sparked speculations of joining Blue Origin’s missions earlier this year. It all came after witnesses saw him and Kim Kardashian arriving at Jeff Bezos’ Los Angeles compound to have dinner.

Sources had since told outlets that the comedian was “excited” to fly. Some, also, had alleged that he was in conversations for the mission.

Davidson would have been the latest celebrity to join a Blue Origin flight to space. “Star Trek” actor William Shatner and “Good Morning America” host Michael Strahan were the first celebrities who embarked on their own missions with the space company in 2021.
