Grimes shocked the public after revealing her second baby with Elon Musk. The now-parents of two secretly welcomed their child via surrogate in December 2021.

People said that the “Art Angels” artist shared the details with Vanity Fair in a cover story for its April 2022 issue. As noted, they nicknamed her “Y,” while her full name is Exa Dark Sideræl.

The 33-year-old singer explained the unique name during the interview. She said that Exa comes from the supercomputing term, “exaFLOPS.”

As for Dark, it represents “the unknown.” She asserted that people fear it, but “it is the absence of photons,” adding that “dark matter is the beautiful mystery of [the] universe.”

Grimes, then, continued to the third part of her daughter’s name, “Sideræl.” She defined it as the “true time of the universe, star time, deep space time,” and not the relative Earth time.

The same publication, later on, noted that the singer, also, revealed “fighting” for a different name for her second child. She wanted “Odysseus” because it is her “dream,” but she and Elon Musk settled for the given one.

Page Six released a similar report, detailing what Grimes had told Vanity Fair during the engagement. It noted that she and the SpaceX founder are “back together in some sort of capacity.”

Speaking to the interviewer, the singer stated that she “would probably refer” to Elon Musk as her boyfriend. She countered, however, that they are “very fluid,” adding that they live separately.

The “Delete Forever” singer, then, shared that she and Musk are “best friends,” and they see each other all the time. They have their “own thing going on,” and she does not expect “other people to understand it.”

When asked whether they are happy, the artist asserted that “this is the best it has ever been” before saying they just need to be free.

Elsewhere in the interview, Grimes opened up about expanding her family with Elon Musk. She admitted that they have “always wanted at least three or four” children together.

The two personalities first sparked romance rumors earlier in 2018. They seemingly confirmed their relationship when they attended the Met Gala together in May of the same year.

Sources told People that Grimes and Elon Musk had been seeing each other but had maintained their ties “under the radar.” Several split rumors emerged a few months later, although it all came to a conclusion when witnesses spotted them together on several occasions.

The pair welcomed their first child in the earlier period of the COVID-19 pandemic. In September 2021, the Tesla founder shared that he and his partner broke up, saying they are “semi-separated,” but “still love each other” and are “on great terms.”
