Queen Elizabeth’s life hasn’t always been easy, but 2022 is especially hard for her.

In its Feb. 28 issue, New Idea claimed that the queen is especially sad this year because 2022 is the 20th death anniversary of her younger sister, Princess Margaret.

While speaking with the publication, royal commentator Phil Dampier said that the queen most definitely misses her sister and late mother, the Queen Mother.

“I’m sure the queen will be deeply saddened that her sister died so relatively young and misses her every day, as she does her mother,” he said.

And just seven weeks later, the queen also had to say goodbye to the Queen Mother.

“It was a tremendous blow for the queen to lose both of them so close together, particularly at the start of her Golden Jubilee year. But she soldiered on and enjoyed the celebrations in 2022, as her mother and sister would have wanted her to do,” Dampier said.

And on Feb. 6, the queen released a statement to commemorate her Platinum Jubilee.

Coincidentally, Feb. 6 was also the day when her late father, King George VI passed away.

So, in her speech, the monarch revealed that she still remembers the death of her father very clearly because she was unable to be with him at the time.

The queen and Prince Philip were on a royal tour overseas when she received a call from the palace informing her of King George VI’s passing.

When she returned home days later, she was immediately crowned as queen even while she was still in mourning.

Meanwhile, Dampier also talked about the queen’s plans for her Platinum Jubilee celebration in June.

“She normally marks the dates quietly at Sandringham where her father died aged only 56. She will remember them all in her own way, and her family is rallying around her to support her as much as possible, despite COVID restrictions. I’m sure the queen will see a lot more of all her children and their offspring going forward as they wrap her up in cotton wool for the Platinum Jubilee events,” Dampier said.

However, whatever plans the royal family has may have been put on hold because the queen is still recovering from COVID-19.

The palace announced that she tested positive after meeting with Prince Charles days earlier. The heir to the throne tested positive for COVID-19 last week.
